  • Sights like those below were common in 1965 when I was an ET-3 (Electronics Technician) on the USS Stoddard DD-566.  We were on station in Da Nang Harbor to provide night gunfire support. In fact we fired about 2600 rounds of 5" ammunition against Vietcong targets along the coast of South Vietnam in less than 100 days.
